A GIS-based dashboard provides a robust decision-making tool to discard and dispose of frivolous and irrelevant cases before they are processed, thereby reducing the workload of the election machinery on ghost complaints.

Delays in reporting violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) often lead to criminals escaping the scrutiny of the Election Commission's flying squad. Further, the lack of any documented, undisputed, evidence in the form of pictures or videos was a major hindrance in establishing the veracity of the complaint ex post facto. The Commission's experience has also shown that a significant percentage of reporting was incorrect or inaccurate, causing the valuable time of field units to be wasted.

The new cVIGIL app launched by the Election Commission of India is expected to fill all these gaps and create a fast-track complaint reception and redressal system. 'cVIGIL' stands for Aware Citizen and emphasizes the active and responsible role citizens can play in conducting free and fair elections.

About PWD Application

The Election Commission of India is working to simplify the voter identification and registration process by providing customized services to People with Disabilities (PwDs). Under the new program, PWDOs are required to share their essential details with the Election Commission through call service numbers or a specially designed app that they can easily download on their Android phones.

To request any electoral services, first-time voters will have to disclose their name, address, and mobile number along with their state, district, and assembly constituency while registered voters will have to provide their EPIC number mentioned on the top of their voter ID card. . Once they do that, a booth level officer will visit them at home to complete the remaining formalities. After that, it is not long before the voter ID card is sent to their address.
